I cramped up my hands last night doing knit 3 togethers on this monster hat...It's a "Fat Hat" from Hip to Knit. I had Mike help me make the command decisions (one tassel or two? tassel or pom pom?) and it finally got finished. Granted, it only took 2 days of minimal knitting, but look at the yarn in the pom pom! It's huge! It's super bulky Blizzard by Reynolds, alpaca and acrylic blend. It's super soft, but a little too fuzzy. It will be mega warm this winter though. I had a little yarn left after finishing, and Mike suggested that I make it into a nice, tight ball instead of a loose pile of yarn. That idea led to this:
Yes, I went through my stash and wound up all my sizeable leftovers into balls. While watching the epic battle of droid vs. gungan and Darth Maul vs. Obi and Qui Gon. I even stayed up late to do this. Notice how they're not quite balls, but more center pull cylinders. Mom, this should help you figure out the last surprise I got for you from Patternworks...a ball winder!! Yay!! It's so much fun, you'll want to wind all your yarn at once! I bet even Andy would want to help! I know Mike helped on several of these skeins.
I got a crazy idea while in the shower yesterday...I've wanted, for a while now, a Nissan Xterra. White, with tinted windows, and "STMTRPR" or "TK421" on the license plates. (At Bubonicon, I bought a white outline sticker of a storm trooper just for this very imaginary car.) Anyways, I thought that I should call the garage "Docking Bay 94," in honor of the docking bay the Millenium Falcon blasted out of on Tatooine in the fourth movie. But why stop there? The living room (you know how they usually have beigeish carpet and tanish walls) would be Tatooine, the kitchen would be the Cantina, the bathroom would be Mon Calamari, and the office would be Corusant. Cool, no? I just need a name for the yarn/knitting room. We were thinking Bastion, after the mobile base of the Empire. All we would need to add is a furry brown dog named Bantha, and some kinds running around dressed as jawas.
I never dreamed I would be so nerdy when I grew up. :) It's much more fun this way.
